Pachi pulusu

Pachi Pulusu is a delicious rasam usually served cold with hot rice. It literally means 'raw soup'. It is a very good dish to have when there are a lot of non-veg dishes around.

Ingredients

Tamarind paste – 1 cup
Water - 3 cups
Onions – ½ cup (chopped)
Green Chillies – 4 (chopped)
cumin powder - 1 tbsp
Sugar/Jaggery - 1/4 tsp
Salt

Steps

1. Put the onions and chillies in a bowl along with 1/2 cup of warm water and a little tamarind paste. Crush the onions and chillies with a masher so that the flavour releases into the water.

2. Add the salt, cumin powder, sugar, water and tamarind paste and mix well.

Tips

Ususally the onions and chillies are crushed by hand. But your hands have the afterburn. So always use a pappuguthi or a masher.
